Lucy’s inspiration was an Old Hollywood Wedding. The Mansion on Main Street was the perfect backdrop offering meticulous attention to detail. This venue appeals to all the senses with stunning landscaping, pleasant lighting design, and culinary delights. Lucy told me during one of our phone calls that she loves nice things and couldn’t imagine her wedding day being anything short of elegant.

Lucy and John’s love story started nearly 8 years ago when John was taking statements from witnesses of a car crash. John was a young police officer paying his dues at the time. One of the witnesses to this car crash was Lucy and the whole time Lucy was giving her statement she was also looking this handsome cop up and down. She noted his name and later that evening found him on facebook and sent a friend request. John responded with a DM shortly thereafter and asked Lucy out on a date. They had immediate chemistry and the rest is history.

I met Lucy and John for the first time a year before their wedding for their Engagement Session. They were absolutely adorable together and had so much fun during their session at Longwood Gardens. I knew by the way they looked at one another that these two were perfect for each other!

Lucy and the ladies got ready at a hotel near the venue. Lucy’s looked breathtaking in her ballgown style wedding dress featuring lace, pearls and a flowy chapel train. Her bridesmaids wore matching pink dresses in various styles and carried bouquets of baby’s breath. Lucy’s bouquet was a full, beautiful collection of white roses.

When we arrived at The Mansion on Main Street Lucy prepared for the much anticipated first look with John. His excitement was palpable when I asked if he was ready! John was blown away by Lucy’s elegant glam look.

When the wedding party arrived we did one more “first look” with the groomsmen. While it technically was a first look as they had not seen her yet the purpose of this moment was really for Lucy to ice the groomsmen! Their mood quickly shifted from shock to defeat as they realized they had been pranked.

With the groomsmen iced, we proceeded to explore the grounds and take couples photos throughout the space. Lucy and John are naturals in front of the camera; it doesn’t hurt that they can’t keep their hands off each other! When I said these two were adorbable together earlier, I don’t know if I emphasised it enough! THEY. ARE. SO. DAMN. CUTE. TOGETHER.

I love working with couples who have been together for years; they know each other so well, but have this amazing wedding energy that creates a delicious balance.

The Mansion on Main was an absolute pleasure to photograph. I was impressed by how smoothly everyone worked together and the exquisite attention provided to the bride and groom. They had a personal concierge who joined us for photo opportunities throughout the day helping to set Lucy’s train, offering recommendations, and providing water and champagne for them to enjoy. The landscaping was impeccable at every turn. The only thing preventing us from being able to turn in any direction at any time was the somewhat harsh golden sunshine on their warm wedding day.

The ceremony was beautiful and simply glamorous. The ceremony was held outdoors in The French Gardens featuring a stone aisle leading up to an incredible arched colonnade supported by four doric columns. There were two large flower arrangements featuring white roses hung on the middle two columns and their was lush greenery surounding the space. As John and Lucy exchanged promises and rings the sun backlit the bride and groom at an angle that allowed for delightful flare in some of the wider shots. They joyfully recessed back down the aisle as their loved ones cheered and celebrated their nuptials.

After the ceremony, Lucy and John took a few photos with family members before making their entrance to cocktail hour! The newlyweds prioritized spending time with their guests and this was such a great opportunity for them to enjoy themselves with everyone who came out to support them on their special day. The Rosecliff Cocktail Room was stunning and spacious with multiple stations featuring a variety of snacks as well as passed hor’dourves.

We snuck downstairs before the rest of the guests so that Lucy and John could enjoy a room reveal and practice their first dance. The room was absolutely stunning and Lucy looked like Ginger Rodgers as John led her through spins and dips on the dance floor.

After dinner Lucy and John cut their beautiful four tiered wedding cake featuring piped roses. The pastry team at The Mansion on Main Street really knocked it out of the park delivering not only a stunning wedding cake but a full dessert spread and bar offering coffee drinks, after dinner drinks and apertifs. Everything I tried was just as delicious as it looked!

Then the dance floor opened and DJ Bishop absolutely crushed it. The energy was amazing as everyone took to the dance floor to party with the newlyweds. When I say this crowd was here to party, I mean they were ready to partyyy. John tore the dance floor up, alternating dancing with his new wife and the rest of their guests. There are three key components to having a dance floor that won’t stop: a great DJ, alcohol and for the bride and groom to be out there! Your guests are there for you and will gravitate to you and match the energy you set.
