Jacquie and Andrew’s Marian House wedding was the culmination of a 10-year love story that started with late-night EMS shifts, continued through adventures from New Jersey to South Dakota, and led them to a beautiful day full of laughter, family, and a Mummer’s strut on the dance floor.
They started the day getting ready in their home, and we proceeded to a local park in Wenonah for their first look, couples session and family photos. From there we traveled about 20min to Marian House, where we completed their wedding party photos and prepared for their ceremony!
Their Marian House wedding was a perfect reflection of their journey—fun, travel-inspired, and full of genuine moments shared with the people (and pets) they love most.
Jacquie, a paramedic and EMS director, and Andy, an EMT, first connected in 2014 through a Facebook group for night shift EMS workers. Long nights turned into FaceTime calls, and those calls turned into friendship. Soon, Andy traveled to New Jersey to visit Jacquie and explore the East Coast, while Jacquie made the trip to South Dakota to experience buffalo, the Badlands, and chislic for the first time.
What started as Andy’s “temporary” move to New Jersey became permanent. Nine years, three dogs, and a house later, their wedding day finally arrived, much to the joy (and teasing) of family and friends.
In true Andy fashion, the proposal had its own twist. Andy won a trip to the Sandals Royal Plantation Resort in Ocho Rios, Jamaica—thanks to a radio contest. During Jacquie’s birthday dinner at a French restaurant on the resort, Andy excused himself (a little longer than usual) and returned with a one-of-a-kind ring he’d designed. His question was simple: “So, do you want to get married?” While Jacquie said “yes, are you sure?!”, Andy announced the news to the restaurant, receiving cheers and shouts of, “About time!” “About time” became a running joke amongst their families and friends!
Jacquie and Andrew chose Marian House as their wedding venue for its exceptional team and genuine care. Jacquie recalls how the staff went above and beyond, even calling to check on Andy when he was hospitalized shortly after signing their contract. That level of care made Marian House feel like the perfect fit for their wedding day.
The couple kept things relaxed and focused on what truly mattered: celebrating their love with those closest to them. Jacquie’s only regret? When her bustle proved impossibly complicated she said she wished she had just left it down and joined cocktail hour.
The couple’s wedding style was simple and meaningful: fun and travel. They prioritized staying within their budget and infused their day with personal touches, including plenty of DIY elements.
Their day was filled with laughter, heartfelt moments, and memories they wouldn’t change for the world. Staying on budget, DIY-ing the details, and focusing on experiences made their day everything they dreamed of made their beautiful day even more special!
When asked what advice they’d share with couples planning their wedding, Jacquie offered this: Don’t stress over the little things (or most of the big things). Your wedding day is about you as a couple. Enjoy every moment as guests of honor, surrounded by the people who love you most.
For Jacquie and Andrew, Marian House was more than just a venue. From their first meeting, the staff’s kindness and care stood out. Jacquie shared how the team truly valued their input and made the planning process stress-free. It’s no surprise that Marian House weddings have earned a reputation for seamless, heartfelt events.
Jacquie and Andrew’s experience highlights what makes this venue such a gem:
