The Experience

They chose to save seeing each other for the aisle, but before the ceremony they shared private vows. Through happy tears, shaky voices, and a lot of anticipation, they promised forever to the person they leaned against.

Their moms were there supporting them every step of the way, helping create a day filled with so much love and joy. At the same time, both brides carried the heartache of knowing their fathers weren't there. It's a reality far too many LGBTQ+ couples know firsthand. Yet what stood out most wasn't who was missing, but the people who showed up wholeheartedly to celebrate them.

A little later, Callie stood waiting at the arbor. The moment she saw Nikita walking toward her, smiling through tears, her entire face lit up. Nikita immediately burst into tears herself. Neither could stop looking at the other, and for a few seconds, everything else seemed to disappear.

Moments like these are why I love being an LGBTQ wedding photographer. I get to preserve joy, celebrate love stories that are beautifully unique, and create photographs that remind people they can be seen exactly as they are. As a queer photographer, that feels especially important right now. In uncertain times, documenting our love, our relationships, and our joy isn't just meaningful, it's our voice.

LGBTQ Wedding Photographer

What I love most about weddings is that they give us an opportunity to celebrate those stories exactly as they are.

My job isn't to decide which traditions matter or what your wedding day should look like. It's to learn what matters to you, support you throughout the process, and create a space where you can feel comfortable being yourselves. Through a blend of prompt-based posing and documentary storytelling, I'll capture your day with intention, preserving the people, moments, and connections that make your story uniquely yours.

Because the best wedding photographs aren't about fitting into a box. They're about remembering what it felt like to be fully seen, deeply loved, and surrounded by people who celebrated you exactly as you are.

Love doesn't fit neatly into boxes...
Your wedding day Shouldn't either

I'm Lara, the photographer behind L.Morgan Photography. One of the things I love most about the LGBTQIA+ community is the freedom to define relationships, family, and celebration on our own terms. There isn't one right way to love, one right way to build a family, or one right way to have a wedding.

My Story

How would you describe your photography style?

Clean, Classic & Timeless.
It is so important to me that your wedding photos never feel outdated or tied to fleeting trends. While some photography styles lean heavily into trendy edits or stylized posing, my approach is about preserving moments in their truest, most beautiful form so they remain just as meaningful decades from now as they do today.

Your wedding day isn’t just about a single moment in time—it’s part of a larger story that will be told for generations. When you flip through your wedding album years from now, I want you to feel like you’re stepping right back into that day—not just remembering how everything looked, but how it felt.

I see your service areas include
Tennessee and Pennsylvania, how does that work?

I bi-locate between the two, meaning I call both places home thanks to loved ones who keep me rooted in each. During busy season, I typically alternate months between the two, making that 12-hour drive far more often than any sane person should—but hey, at least I get to catch up on all my favorite podcasts and know all the best Mexican restaurants on i81.

Since my schedule rotates, engagement sessions take a little more planning ahead, but I’m available for photos in both locations in any season. We’ll find the perfect time to make your session happen!

Are these the only areas you serve?

While my primary service areas are Eastern Tennessee, Pennsylvania and New Orleans, I am a destination photographer at heart, and regularly travel beyond those borders!

I’m always up for an adventure! If your wedding or session is outside these areas, let’s chat—I’m happy to travel wherever your love story takes you!

If you are interested in destination photography, please let me know on the inquiry form, so I can confirm availability.

How far in advance should we book you
and what's required to secure our date?

The Sooner the Better!
Since I bi-locate, my early bookings help shape my travel schedule for the year. Popular dates, especially in peak wedding season, tend to fill up quickly, so reaching out as soon as you’re considering working together gives you the best chance of securing your date.

To officially secure your wedding date, I require a signed contract from both of you and a 50% non-refundable retainer. Once those are in place, your date is locked in on my calendar, and we can start planning all the details!
Until then, I can’t guarantee availability, so if you're ready to move forward, let’s make it official!

What’s the process like after we book?

Once you’ve booked me, we’ll have a few touchpoints leading up to your wedding day to make sure everything is seamless.

First, we’ll schedule a call to dive deeper into your vision and start drafting your wedding timeline and family photo list. Next, we’ll plan and schedule your engagement session—a great opportunity for us to work together before the big day. When we meet for your session, you’ll get a feel for how I guide and direct, making portraits feel natural and fun.

Then, about a month before your wedding, we’ll check in again to see how everything has come together, make any adjustments to the timeline or family photo list, and ensure all the details are covered.

What happens if our plans change?

Your retainer secures the date listed in your contract, and because I reserve that time exclusively for you, it is non-refundable. If your wedding date changes, I cannot guarantee availability for the new date. My schedule is carefully planned around my bookings, and rescheduling often means turning down other couples for your original date.

If I am available for your new wedding date, your retainer may be applied to that date or, in some cases, transferred to a different session type. However, date changes are subject to my availability and may require a new contract or additional fees depending on the circumstances. If your plans shift, please reach out as soon as possible so we can discuss your options.

How do you help us create the best wedding day timeline for photos?

Creating a seamless wedding day timeline is key to ensuring you get the best possible photos without feeling rushed or overwhelmed. From the start, I work closely with you to design a timeline that fits your unique vision, maximizes beautiful lighting, and allows you to be fully present on your wedding day.

We’ll begin by discussing your priorities—whether that’s a first look, golden hour portraits, or extra time for candid moments—and I’ll guide you on how much time to set aside for each part of the day. I also consider key logistics, like travel time between locations and the natural flow of events, to keep everything running smoothly.

Do you attend the rehearsal dinner?

I do not typically attend the rehearsal dinner, but if my schedule allows, it can be added to any collection. Rehearsal dinners are often filled with heartfelt toasts, candid moments, and relaxed interactions with your closest friends and family—moments that can be just as meaningful as the wedding day itself.

If you’d like me to capture this part of your celebration, let’s talk about availability, rates and how it can fit into your
 photography package.

What happens if our wedding day runs behind schedule?

Weddings rarely run exactly on time, and I plan for that! I build buffer time into your photography timeline. If things do run behind, I’ll adjust as needed, prioritizing the moments that matter most and guiding you through the best way to maximize our time.

However, if the delay is significant, I cannot guarantee that all planned shots or portions of the day will be documented as we may we have to cut or condense certain photos.. I’ll communicate with you in real time to make adjustments. If extra time is needed beyond your contracted hours, additional coverage may be available at an hourly rate. My goal is always to keep things as stress-free as possible while ensuring you still get beautiful, meaningful photos that tell the story of your day.

Do you give direction during photos, or is everything candid? What if we’re awkward in front of the camera?

I guide my couples with prompt-based posing, which means I give direction that encourages natural movement and real connection, rather than stiff, overly structured poses. This approach creates photos that feel candid and effortless while still being beautifully composed.

If you’re worried about feeling awkward in front of the camera, you’re not alone—most of my couples feel that way at first! But I promise, you won’t be left wondering what to do. I’ll guide you in a way that feels comfortable and natural, so you can focus on each other instead of the camera. If you're feeling nervous, I highly recommend booking an engagement session! By the time your wedding day arrives, you’ll feel prepared and at ease.

How do you handle family photos?

Family formals are an important part of your wedding day, and I strive for them to be organized, efficient, and as stress-free as possible. Before the wedding, we’ll work together to create a customized family photo list, ensuring we capture all the key groupings while being mindful of any unique family dynamics. I highly recommend limiting post-ceremony formals to 12 sets.

On the wedding day, I take charge of directing and positioning everyone so we can move through the list smoothly and quickly. My goal is to get the formal portraits done efficiently so you can get back to celebrating while still having timeless images with the people who matter most.

How long does it take to get our wedding photos?
how will we receive them?

Your full wedding gallery will be delivered within 8 weeks after your wedding day. I take the time to carefully edit each image individually—no batching, no AI shortcuts—to ensure a cohesive, beautifully curated collection that reflects the true emotion and essence of your day. Every photo is thoughtfully adjusted for color, tone, and consistency, so your gallery feels polished and timeless.

Once your gallery is ready, you'll receive a link to a private online gallery, where you can view, share, and download your photos. You'll have access to both full-resolution files for printing and web-sized files for easy sharing on social media.

Do you offer albums or prints?
What if we want to print photos through our prefered lab?

Yes! I offer heirloom-quality albums and professional prints that are designed to last for generations. These are crafted with high-end materials and professional printing to ensure your images look their absolute best. All print and album orders go directly through me, allowing for a more personal experience and ensuring you receive only the highest-quality products.

That said, I don’t gatekeep your photos—every collection includes an unrestricted print release, meaning you’re free to print your images wherever you’d like. While I can’t guarantee the quality of consumer labs, I believe your memories should be yours to print and display however you choose.

What happens if you get sick or have an emergency?

I take my commitment to your wedding day seriously, and I have a built-in backup plan to ensure you're covered no matter what. In the unlikely event that I’m unable to be there, I have trusted professionals I can call on to step in, ensuring you still receive the high-quality experience you booked.

If you’ve opted for a second photographer, that also serves as an extra layer of security—someone who is already familiar with your timeline and my approach, ensuring continuity in your coverage. While I have never missed a wedding, I believe in being prepared for anything, so you can feel confident that your day will be captured beautifully no matter what.

How Much Do your Collections Cost?

This is always the first question, and I get it, budgets matter. But what you'll spend with me varies for every couple. My collections are very customizable, as everybody's must haves and want to haves are different.

It also depends on where you're located. I don't charge travel fees in the US,  it's important to me to show up for my community where ever you may be. However, if you are located within my service areas in eastern Tennessee or Pennsylvania, I do offer discounts.

That said, budgets are important, as is transparency. Most of my couples invest between 3000-5000 in their wedding photography.

Including Chosen Family on Your Wedding Day

Finding LGBTQ Friendly Wedding Vendors Who Truly Support You

Prompt-Based Posing for Genuine Wedding Photos

A rainbow logo doesn't always tell the whole story. Learn the questions to ask and the signs to look for when building a wedding team that will genuinely celebrate, support, and advocate for you throughout the planning process.

Hate the idea of stiff, awkward poses? Prompt-based posing uses simple direction and movement to create natural interactions, helping you focus on each other while I capture genuine expressions and moments that feel like you.

Family doesn't always look the way tradition says it should. This resource explores meaningful ways to honor the people who have supported, encouraged, and loved you throughout your life, whether they're related by blood or by choice.

Valley Creek Productions

While I specialize in photography, many couples choose to add videography so they can relive their vows, speeches, and all the little moments that are impossible to capture in a single frame.

For my Eastern Pennsylvania couples, I partner with Valley Creek Productions, a gay-owned videography company that shares my commitment to creating an inclusive, comfortable experience. While we remain separate businesses with separate contracts, we've built a collaborative partnership that makes planning easier and ensures your photo and video teams are working toward the same vision.

Couples who book both services receive a bundled discount and the convenience of a single payment schedule. Whether you begin with me or Valley Creek Productions, we'll work together behind the scenes to coordinate timelines, priorities, and creative goals so your wedding day feels seamless from start to finish.

Curious About Video?

Most couples want wedding photos that feel like them—the inside jokes, the little habits and quirks that make their relationship uniquely theirs. For LGBTQ+ couples, that can come with an added challenge: finding a photographer who understands that there is no script, no set of gender roles to follow, and no one-size-fits-all version of what a wedding day should look like.

That's where I come in. Using prompt-based posing and a documentary approach, I create space for genuine connection while providing enough guidance that you never have to wonder what to do with your hands. Whether you're gay, nonbinary, trans, queer, a trio or simply building a wedding day that doesn't fit neatly into tradition, my goal is the same: for you to feel comfortable, celebrated, and completely yourself in front of my camera.

I'm here to help bring your vision to life, whether that means throwing tradition out the window, embracing every tradition that feels right, or creating something entirely your own. From the excitement of your engagement to the joy, tears, laughter, and dance floor chaos of your wedding day, I'll be there to preserve the moments that make your love story uniquely yours.

NEXT STEPS

Lara was our wedding photographer, and working with her was truly one of the best decisions we made. From the beginning she was organized, responsive, and so easy to work with. On the wedding day she brought such a calm and positive energy, helped keep everything on schedule, and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera.

She gave great direction when needed but also captured so many natural moments throughout the day. Our photos are beautiful and perfectly reflect the joy of the day. We would absolutely recommend Lara to anyone looking for a talented wedding photographer

"she Captured so many natural moments throughout the day"
