Kait & Devon’s Ethereal Anthony Wayne House Wedding | Paoli, PA

Kait’s inspiration for their Anthony Wayne House wedding day was an ethereal forest fairy wedding accented with spring wildflowers. This venue was the perfect backdrop offering a mix of historic stone buildings set on stunning grounds with so many beautiful trees!

Kait and Devon splurged on their attire. Kait looked drop-dead gorgeous in her lacy wedding dress with an A-Line cut designed by Jason Alexander. Her bridesmaids wore various shades of green in different styles of dresses, while the groomsmen wore grey suits with white shirts, black ties and brown shoes. Devon stood out from the groomsmen in his black suit and gray tie for their Anthony Wayne House wedding.

Kait and Devon’s love story started 8 years ago when Alexis, a good friend of Kait’s, started dating Devon’s younger brother. They crossed paths one day when Kait was over at her house and her boyfriend’s brother just happened to be there; the chemistry was palpable. Alexis started playing matchmaker and succeeded even though neither Kait nor Devon were looking for a relationship at the time. These two are living proof that you’ll find what you’re looking for when you stop looking.

Devon and Kait both love hiking and visiting National Parks; Devon popped the question at Sequoia National Park in front of the world’s largest known tree, General Sherman. She could tell that he was nervous, but wasn’t sure why. When he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of her life with him she understood why he’d been acting strange. She said yes and now they are celebrating their union!

Kait and Devon shared a first look before the ceremony allowing them to spend more time with each other and their guests. It had been raining on and off throughout the day and it was looking more and more like their Anthony Wayne House wedding would be taking place under the tent. Due to this we did their first look under a tree overlooking the outdoor ceremony site. During their first look, they shared private vows with one another and then took a few moments to themselves. I love that they prioritized togetherness on their wedding day and asked to carve out the chance to spend some alone time together in their timeline.

The Anthony Wayne House checked multiple boxes as the historic home provided Colonial vibes while the grounds provided a romantic backdrop for their day. Built in 1724 it is a historic landmark under The Philadelphia Society for the Preservation of Landmarks. The home was owned by The Wayne family from 1724-1965, and landmarked in 1980. Major General Anthony Wayne was born into the home in 1745.

As a photographer, I was impressed by the uniqueness of the venue and how beautiful the grounds are. I love that an Anthony Wayne House wedding is unique without sacrificing history or charm. Devon and Kait fell in love with it because of the grounds and the number of beautiful trees as well as the clear tent with its chandelier and string lights. It was the perfect mix of outside/inside and history.

As the rain persisted throughout the day Kait and Devon made the hard decision to move the ceremony into the tent. Though it wasn’t exactly where they imagined saying their I dos, the light was absolutely stunning and diffuse inside the tent. The ceremony was beautiful; perfectly balanced by laughter and love.

After the ceremony Kait and Devon took a moment to enjoy their just-married high alone together. Devon claims to be uncomfortable in front of the camera, but you would never know it looking at how comfortable he was posing with his beautiful bride. Sadly every time we tried to do couples photos the rain picked up, luckily there were several beautiful spots at The Anthony Wayne House to avoid the rain. Their couples session was tons of fun as they were down to play around and enjoy one another in the rain, but I was sad we weren’t able to explore the ground more. We did eventually give up and moved back into the tent to complete their couples photos with a little bit of dancing and an epic dip kiss! Kait said afterward that the weather truly does not affect how the day will go and she was surprised that they didn’t care about the rain; it increased the intimacy and comfort of the day!

As the guests returned to the tent they found their seats they found National Parks representing the tables in lieu of table numbers. The sweetheart table featured Sequoia, a perfect call back to the start of their engagement.

The newlyweds went directly into their first dance after their grand entrance. Kait’s father then thanked everyone for attending and dinner was served by Jeffery A Miller Catering (aka JAM) and was delicious! The newlyweds then cut their cake – a stunning marble cake also made by JAM.

DJ Vince absolutely killed it; as guests couldn’t help but make their way over to dance before the dance floor officially opened. The energy was amazing and soon most of their guests took to the dance floor to celebrate the newlyweds. Kait and Devon noted that the night flew by as they mingled with their guests and finally made it out to dance together.

To Devon and Kaitlyn- May you never stop looking at one another with adoration and joy!
