Discovering Historic Poole Forge

There’s something special about finding a location that feels like it was designed for engagement photos, and this Historic Poole Forge Engagement Session absolutely felt that way. When Madi and Connor suggested meeting at Historic Poole Forge, I was immediately intrigued. It’s not too far from where I stay in Pottstown, but somehow it had completely flown under my radar. After spending an evening wandering the grounds with these two, I can confidently say I’ll be dreaming about photographing there again.

What makes Historic Poole Forge so unique is how much variety it offers without ever feeling overwhelming. Despite the property’s acreage, everything is incredibly accessible. Within a short walk, you move from open greenery and creekside views to old stone architecture, wooden fencing, footbridges, and one of the most charming covered bridges tucked into the landscape. The blend of history and nature gives the entire property this peaceful, romantic atmosphere that photographs beautifully from every angle.

If you’re searching for a location that blends nature, architecture, and historic character, Historic Poole Forge is absolutely worth considering — and I’d love to help you create photos there that feel relaxed, personal, and genuinely fun.

A Historic Venue That Also Hosts Weddings

Originally established as an iron forge in the 1700s, the property still carries so much character and texture from its historic roots. The preserved stone buildings and surrounding landscape make it feel timeless without feeling overly formal, which was the perfect fit for Madi and Connor’s engagement session. One thing that surprised me while looking into the property was learning that they also host weddings on-site. Honestly, after seeing how thoughtfully laid out everything is, it makes complete sense. The venue offers this beautiful balance of natural scenery and historic architecture while still feeling intimate and manageable to navigate. Between the covered bridge, creek access, stonework, and open lawns, there are so many opportunities for portraits without needing to travel between locations throughout the day.

Madi and Connor Were Instantly Easy to Photograph

These two were so easy to photograph from the very beginning. We actually met at a bridal expo and hit it off right away, which made this session feel more like hanging out with friends than work. Madi and Connor met online in 2023, and spending time with them together makes it very obvious why they clicked so quickly. They’re playful, social, and completely comfortable around each other in a way that made every little interaction feel natural.

They told me they love everything from mini golf nights and spending time with friends to simply staying in together and watching Netflix, and honestly, that balance feels very “them.” Comfortable, fun, and easy to be around.

And honestly, one of my favorite moments of the entire session happened during what was supposed to be a very dramatic dip kiss. In theory, it was going to be smooth and romantic. In reality, Madi completely lost her footing, to make matters worse Connor didn’t have a good hold of her and she hit the ground laughing and very nearly took Connor down with her in the process.

Instead of being embarrassed, the two of them both started laughing, and it ended up becoming one of those moments that made the session feel even more genuine. Sometimes the “failed” moments are the ones couples end up loving most because they actually feel like them.

Why I’d Recommend a Historic Poole Forge Engagement Session

The soft evening light paired so perfectly with the property. Between the warm stone textures, the movement of the creek, and the greenery surrounding the paths, every part of this Historic Poole Forge Engagement Session felt relaxed and romantic without trying too hard. It’s the kind of location that naturally creates variety in a gallery while still feeling cohesive from beginning to end.

I’m already counting down to photographing Madi and Connor’s wedding next September, and if their engagement session was any indication, it’s going to be such a joyful day to document.
