At sunset, the grooms share a kiss outdoors against a dramatic sky glowing with deep orange and purple hues. The groom in pink now wears a bold white reception jacket covered in oversized rosette textures, while the groom in blue remains in his steel-blue suit. A wooden fence and silhouetted trees stretch behind them, creating a cinematic portrait that an lgbt wedding photographer uses to highlight romance during golden hour and twilight.

LGBT Wedding in North Georgia | Austin & Nick

Filed in Wedding Days — March 2, 2026

Celebrating Austin and Nick’s LGBT wedding in North Georgia surrounded by wholehearted love, support, and pride was special. Their wedding wasn’t just beautiful and epic — it was affirming. It was the kind of day that reminds you how powerful it is when two men get to stand up in front of their people and be celebrated exactly as they are. When planning their wedding, their vision was simple but powerful: “elegant sparkle.” They wanted the day to feel joyful, meaningful, and filled with the people who love and support them most.

Celebrating Love Loudly, Proudly, and Fully

Whether you’re planning a same-sex wedding in the South or anywhere love deserves to be celebrated without hesitation, you deserve photography that sees you, honors you, and documents your joy exactly as it unfolds. If that’s the energy you’re looking for, let’s talk.

The couple stands beside a framed welcome sign reading “Welcome to the wedding of Nick & Austin,” held between them on a gold stand tied with blush ribbon bows. The groom in pink holds his bouquet, while the groom in blue stands proudly at his side. The clean white backdrop and evening light create a polished portrait that an lgbt wedding photographer captures to document custom wedding signage and personal details.

The Emerson: A Thoughtful Setting for an LGBT Wedding in North Georgia

Austin and Nick chose The Emerson, a wedding venue in North Georgia and the newest endeavor from the owners of The Venue Chattanooga. The Emerson immediately stood out to them when they toured it.

As they shared later, “The Emerson immediately felt special the moment we walked in. The space is beautiful on its own, but what really sold us was the atmosphere. It felt intimate, romantic, and perfect for celebrating with the people we love most.”

The Emerson is a thoughtfully designed space with clean architecture, beautiful chandeliers, and a layout that flows well from ceremony to reception. The owners also have a property next door that’s available for photography, which gave us additional options for portraits and quiet moments away from the crowd. There were a couple of logistical quirks — the parking lot placement wasn’t ideal, and from the ceremony site you could see some power lines in the distance — but honestly, there isn’t much they could do about that. Overall, the venue felt intentional and lovely, and it provided a strong backdrop for a day that was already overflowing with personality.

The Double Proposal

Austin and Nick have been together for five years. They met at a bar on Nick’s birthday — which, let’s be real, is a refreshingly classic in-person way to meet someone. What started as a birthday introduction turned into a relationship rooted in equality, humor, and genuine partnership. That equality showed up in their engagement story, too. They both wanted to be proposed to, so they both proposed. Austin popped the question first. Nick said yes. A couple of months later, Nick surprised Austin with a ring of his own. Mutual. Intentional. Completely on brand for them.

A Joy-Filled First Look

Austin and Nick wanted their wedding to feel epic but still welcoming and fun. They didn’t want to rush through it. They wanted space to slow down and actually experience it. Their first look was familiar and joyful — the kind of moment where you can see years of shared life between two people. When they turned toward each other, it wasn’t nerves. It was comfort. Laughter. Relief. It grounded them before the ceremony began.

But perhaps the most emotional moment of the entire day came later.

Austin shared that his favorite moment was walking down the aisle and seeing Nick waiting for him. Nick stood at the altar with tears in his eyes as Austin approached, and “in that moment everything else faded away- the planning, the stress, all of it- and it felt like it was just the two of us. It was such an emotional moment.”

A Wedding Centered Around Love & Community

From the very beginning of planning, they were most excited about bringing everyone they love into one space — friends, family, chosen family — all the people who love and support them right back. And they are lucky. Both of their families are incredibly accepting, and it showed all damn day. There was no hesitation. No awkwardness. Just joy. Austin shared a father/son dance with his dad that had the entire room feeling it. His dad looked at him with so much pride you could practically see it radiating off him. Not everyone gets that experience, especially at an LGBT wedding in North Georgia, and it was a real honor to witness and document.

A Meaningful Ceremony with Personal Touches

The ceremony itself was heartfelt and personal. They incorporated a hand-fasting ritual, inviting family and friends to bring forward different colored ties to wrap around their joined hands. It was a beautiful visual of community — not just two people being bound together, but an entire support system woven into that commitment. When it came time to exchange rings, they did it their way. Nick already had his engagement ring and didn’t want a second band, so Austin gave him something that mattered more to him: a coveted X-Men comic book for his collection. Nick placed a wedding band on Austin’s finger in return. It was playful, sentimental, and perfectly reflective of who they are — honoring tradition while making it entirely their own.

Golden Hour & Editorial Moments

As golden hour settled over North Georgia, we explored the grounds for portraits. The light softened, the sky shifted warm, and we captured everything from bold editorial frames to quiet in-between glances. They leaned into both the drama and the intimacy. Before making their grand entrance, Austin changed into his reception look — setting the tone for the party ahead.

A Reception That Was Truly Epic

And what a party it was. The reception was filled with love from start to finish — first dance, cake cutting, table dash chaos, heartfelt family dances. And then, because they truly wanted epic, they added their own spin to tradition with a dildo toss (not pictured — but absolutely unforgettable) instead of a bouquet toss. The reactions were equal parts shock and hysterical laughter. It broke the ice in the best possible way and had the entire room roaring.

At the sweetheart table, the couple is surrounded by friends striking silly poses for the camera. One friend kisses the groom in pink on the cheek while others throw their hands up in celebration. Champagne flutes, candle votives, and blush napkins decorate the table in front of them. This joyful, personality-filled group portrait embodies the community-centered storytelling that makes lgbt wedding photography so meaningful.

Wigs, Dance Floor Chaos & One Final Look

Once the dance floor officially opened, the wigs came out and all restraint disappeared. Glow sticks waved. Guests packed the checkered floor under chandeliers and floating bubbles. It felt uninhibited and joyful — the kind of dance floor where everyone feels safe enough to let loose. Before the night wrapped up, Austin debuted one final look: a statement fur that elevated the energy even more. Dramatic. Fashion-forward. Completely iconic.

Austin and Nick’s wedding was everything they hoped it would be — epic, welcoming, intentional, and filled with moments where they could pause and actually feel it.

Love deserves to be loud.
Love deserves to be celebrated.
And love like this deserves to be documented exactly as it is.

The Best Decision They Made

When reflecting on the day afterward, Austin and Nick shared that their best decision was simple but powerful.

“Choosing vendors we trusted and letting them do what they do best. That made the entire day feel smooth and stress-free.”

They also echoed something almost every couple says after the wedding day: it goes by incredibly fast.

“People always say that, but it’s true. You wait months planning and then suddenly you’re at the end of the night wondering where the time went.”

Their advice to couples currently planning?

“Focus on what matters most to you as a couple and don’t get caught up in trying to please everyone else. The day goes by quickly, so be present and enjoy every moment.”

Well Wishes for Austin & Nick

Austin and Nick, your wedding was bold, joyful, and completely true to who you are. The way you honored tradition while rewriting it in your own voice was powerful. The pride in your families’ eyes, the laughter on your dance floor, the quiet familiarity between the two of you — it all mattered. May you keep proposing to each other in big and small ways. May your home always be full of friends, love, and maybe a few more legendary comic book additions.

Working with Austin and Nick throughout this process was an absolute joy, and I’m incredibly grateful they trusted me to document their day.

Kind Words

Here’s what they shared about their experience:

“Lara was our wedding photographer at The Emerson Venue in Rossville, GA, and working with her was truly one of the best decisions we made. From the beginning she was organized, responsive, and so easy to work with. On the wedding day she brought such a calm and positive energy, helped keep everything on schedule, and made us feel completely comfortable in front of the camera.

She gave great direction when needed but also captured so many natural moments throughout the day. Our photos are beautiful and perfectly reflect the joy of the day. We would absolutely recommend Lara to anyone looking for a talented wedding photographer in Chattanooga or North Georgia.”
