Lily and Cole’s Lancaster barn wedding at Promise Farm brought their vision of a simple, intimate day to life in the most joyful way. Surrounded by vibrant summer blooms, golden hour light, and their closest people, their celebration felt personal, grounded, and full of spontaneous moments worth remembering forever.
Planning your own Lancaster barn wedding or dreaming up something simple and deeply personal? I’d love to help you bring it to life.
The day began with split-screen energy in the best way. Inside the bridal suite, Lily and her girls helped each other get ready surrounded by soft florals, sentimental details, and a sense of quiet anticipation. Buttoning her lace dress with the help of family, Lily radiated a calm, happy glow. Meanwhile, the guys kicked off their morning with a rowdy pool hangout—splashing, laughing, and soaking up the summer sun with drinks in hand. It was the perfect start to a day that would flow effortlessly from laid-back fun to heartfelt emotion.
While Promise Farm itself may be understated, the lush landscaping and soft rolling fields made the perfect backdrop for Lily and Cole’s outdoor ceremony. Guests gathered beneath a white floral arbor as sunlight filtered through the trees, adding a golden glow to the moment Lily walked down the aisle with her father.
That moment—stepping onto the lawn and seeing Cole and all their loved ones in one place—was Lily’s favorite. She later shared, “It was such a relief seeing my entire vision and everyone come together… it was exactly what I imagined and more.” Their Lancaster barn wedding ceremony was equal parts heartfelt and joyful, filled with laughter, tears, and moments that made time feel like it stood still.
Keeping the guest list small gave the whole day a laid-back, connected feel. Lily and Cole got to spend real time with the people they care about—hugging guests, catching up during cocktail hour, and jumping into the action on the dance floor. The barn buzzed with conversation and clinking glasses, wildflower centerpieces spilling color across the tables, and a steady stream of kids twirling between the adults. Speeches were heartfelt, laughter was easy, and the energy never dipped.
Their first dance was full of movement—twirls, dips, and natural rhythm that came from knowing each other so well. It wasn’t stiff or overly choreographed, just honest and joyful. The light from the chandeliers overhead caught the lace in Lily’s dress as they spun, and the room gathered around them, quiet but fully present. Later, they cut into a single-tier cake topped with blush and peach florals, sharing a smile and a delicious bite together. It was one of many moments that felt unforced, unhurried, and exactly right.
As the sun began to dip, Lily slipped off her shoes and the two of them wandered through the fields for a few final portraits. This golden hour session—barefoot, radiant, and delightfully cinematic—was one of the most magical parts of the day. Their love was so easy to photograph; they laughed, twirled, held hands, and kissed under a sky that matched the warmth of their joy.
Of all the highlights from their Lancaster barn wedding, these quiet, playful sunset moments captured who they are: laid-back, deeply in love, and completely present.
Once the sun dipped and the DJ lights came on inside the barn, the dance floor came alive. From the first beat, guests of every age were out there—barefoot flower girls spinning in circles, grandparents clapping along from the sidelines, and the wedding party bringing the energy from start to finish. Lily and Cole’s Lancaster barn wedding reception brought out the best kind of chaos—the kind filled with laughter, arms in the air, and the spontaneous lifting of both bride and groom into the air by their guests. It was the kind of energy that only comes when everyone in the room feels like family. The newlyweds were in the thick of it the whole time, dancing with each other, their families, and just about everyone else in the room.
Lily and Cole chose Promise Farms because it was a blank slate they could make exactly theirs. “The landscape is amazing”, they told me on our first call, “but we also love that we have free range of choosing all of our vendors and deciding how we want the day and everything to look.” After the wedding, Lily said “it felt like we had an open book to create our whole vision for the day without having the venue tell us otherwise.”
Lily admitted she was nervous in the morning—so excited she could barely sit down—but all of her planning paid off. She shared some advice for future brides later: “It might sound crazy, but stress over those little details and figure out as much as you can before the big day so you don’t have to deal with it on your wedding day. Keep everyone in the loop with what is going and tell them the plan beforehand. This is what helped me have so much peace and comfort on the day of because nothing went wrong and I didn’t have to stress!”
The result? A Lancaster barn wedding that flowed beautifully from start to finish, giving the couple time to live in every moment.
“I don’t even have the words to explain how amazing it was to work with you. I was absolutely blown away by your coordination with everything and everyone , especially the 8 children! I have had so many people tell me how much they loved you and how you directed the day. I also loved that you didn’t steal us away for tons of pictures. You were quick and timely with everything!”
Lily and Cole, thank you for trusting me to document your day. Your celebration was full of heart, beauty, and connection—and the love between you was a joy to witness. I hope every time you look through your gallery, you’re brought right back to those barefoot golden hour kisses, those belly laughs on the dance floor, and the feeling of being surrounded by your people.
